It's not often you get to see secret military installations, let alone whole four story buildings built underground and designed to withstand a nuclear blast. That's why the Diefenbunker is so unique.
It's the place time forgot. Everything is as it was in 1955. Everything has its place — Prime Minister's suite, war room (with lots of maps), military barracks, gold vault, etc.
Next time you're in Ottawa check it out. It's worth the drive to Carp. Note: this is as far as I could get with my camera — it's the blastway. A 2 foot thick entrance door is at the bottom of the slope to the left.. Since it's still a military base, no photos were allowed.
